The Thunderstorm Print E-mail

Our church was holding a series of outreach meetings in the community and were enjoying a good attendance night after night.  On Sunday, about an hour before the meeting, a huge storm rolled up. Big angry clouds and wind, lightning and ground-shaking thunder.

The wind fell in sheets. I knew that with a storm like this, a lot of people would decide to stay home rather than go out in the elements.  And that night's topic on knowing Christ was vital for them to hear.

I'd been reading about prayer and how to claim God's promises, and decided to try what (to me) seemed like a really bold prayer request.  I asked the Lord to stop the storm at 7 pm so everyone would be able to come out in safety.  I knew nothing was too hard for Him, but it still felt rather brazen of me to request that He stop the storm at a particular time.

I continued getting things ready to take to the meeting, and the storm howled all around outside.  The lightning was particularly impressive (I love watching thunderstorms...from a safe vantage point, of course!)  Suddenly all went quiet, as though a switch was flipped. The wind wasn't howling and the rain wasn't beating against the windows.  The sky grew increasingly lighter and brighter.  The storm was over as suddenly as it had come.

And the clock on the wall read 7:00 pm.

Calmer of Storms
written by Angie J, September 17, 2007
I was helping my sister hand drill at well once at her new house out in the woods. We would lift the big steel drill up over our heads and then let it slam down on the pipe. It was hard work. We had to finish that day so that she could get stuff done. It turned dark over head. Thunder rolled. She was not a Christian yet. I told her God could keep the storm away until we finished. She said, "Really?" I prayed out loud He would help. We worked faster and harder. It grew darker. But no rain came until we had finished and capped it off. It was awesome.

friends...A thunderstorm, also known as an electrical storm or a lightning storm, is a form of weather characterized by the presence of lightning and its effect: thunder.[1] It is usually accompanied by heavy rain and sometimes snow, hail, or no precipitation at all. Thunderstorms may line up in a series, and strong or severe thunderstorms may rotate.

smilies/kiss.gifMBTs are a great tool for athletes. they improve post-workout recovery, reinforce proper posture, and help athletes engage muscles that are often neglected in traditional, sport-specific training.
